Unicode italic text generator: two slanted alphabets
Italic is a formatting instruction in a word processor and a different set of characters everywhere else. Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Discord bios are plain-text fields, so Ctrl+I does nothing in them. An italic text generator swaps each letter for one that is drawn slanted already: 𝘈 for A, 𝘢 for a. They come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, where a slanted 𝑥 is the variable in an equation, and every modern phone has a font that covers them, so the slant survives copy and paste.
Italic Sans (𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘰) is the understated one: the same weight as the app’s own text, just leaning. Italic Serif (𝐻𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑜) is the italic of a printed book, closer to what people mean by a quote or a title. The heavy versions of each, Bold Italic Sans and Bold Italic Serif, live on the bold text generator page with the other bold weights. One character to know about: the italic serif h is ℎ, the Planck constant from the Letterlike Symbols block, because that letter was encoded years before the rest of the alphabet and Unicode does not encode a character twice.
Neither style has digits. Unicode encoded bold and monospace numbers for mathematics but never italic ones, so 0–9 stay upright in every italic style here; the glyph maps below show them as dashed cells. Punctuation stays as typed too, which is a feature: an italic sentence keeps its ordinary commas and full stops.

Bold italic text generator and italic serif questions
How do I italicize text on Instagram?
Instagram has no italic control in bios, captions or comments. Type the text above, copy the Italic Sans result and paste it into the field. The letters are Unicode characters that are slanted in themselves, and Instagram shows them as typed on iOS, Android and the web.
Why are the numbers not italic?
Because Unicode never encoded italic digits. The Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block has bold, double-struck, sans and monospace numbers, but mathematics writes numbers upright, so no italic set was made. Both styles on this page leave 0–9 unchanged, and the glyph maps say so.
What is the difference between italic and cursive?
Italic leans the ordinary letters; cursive replaces them with joined-up handwriting. Both come from the same Unicode block, but they are different alphabets: 𝑒 is italic e, 𝑒 is not cursive, 𝓮 is. This page is the italics; the cursive text generator page is the script.
Does italic text work on LinkedIn and X?
Yes, in posts, comments, headlines and bios on both. Neither has an italic button, which is what the generator is for. Two cautions: search does not match italic letters against regular spelling, so keep hashtags and searchable words in ordinary text, and a long italic passage is read letter by letter by some screen readers.
Why does the h look different in italic serif?
The italic serif h is U+210E, the Planck constant, encoded in the Letterlike Symbols block in 1993 for physics. When the full mathematical italic alphabet was added in 2001, that slot was left empty rather than duplicating the character, so every italic serif generator uses ℎ. In most fonts it matches the rest of the alphabet; in a few it sits a little apart.
